Why should I get involved?

Research shows that students who are involved on campus and engaged in both academic and co-curricular activities are more successful students. If you are looking to make new friends, learn something new, or gain or polish leadership skills, getting involved is a great way to accomplish these goals.

How do I get involved?

Getting involved at Texas A&M is easier than you think. With over 800 student organizations, multiple leadership, service, employment opportunities, and friendly people to help you find the right resources, finding your niche in Aggieland is simple. Visit the Student Activities website to learn more about involvement opportunities and upcoming events.

If you are interested in getting involved in a student organization, Student Activities provides a student organization database and organization matching resource called OrgMatch to help you find the student organization that best meets your unique interests.

The MSCC Open House is a great opportunity to meet current students and learn about some student involvement opportunities. MSCC Open House is held at the beginning of the Fall and Spring semesters. Bring your roommate or join your classmates or Living Learning Community friends to browse and shop around for student organizations that are right for you. Leadership

Leadership is one of the core values at Texas A&M University. Your leadership experience can range from participation in organizations specific to first-year students to attending and participating in a conference that helps develop your skills.

FALCon: Freshman Advancing Leadership Conference

FALCon is a conference open to all freshmen at Texas A&M that strives to get a jump start on advancing their knowledge and understanding of leadership. It is a day filled with various leadership activities and speakers well-versed in many leadership characteristics.

David Gilbert Leadership Conference

The Gilbert Leadership Conference exists to serve the students of Texas A&M University by providing you with the opportunity to develop yourself as a leader, to network and interact with one another, and to understand the leadership opportunities that are available across campus to you in your time at A&M.

In keeping with the traditions of Student Activities and Texas A&M University, the conference focuses on character, service, and involvement as well as to better help the Texas A&M student body.

Freshmen Leadership Development Retreat (FLDR)

Freshmen Leadership Development Retreat is a three day retreat dedicated to assisting you recognize your leadership strengths and improve your weaknesses. Through speakers, team-building exercises and leadership workshops, FLDR strives to provide you with a better understanding and a greater awareness of your potential to become an influential Aggie leader.

Aggie Women In Leadership (AWIL)

AWIL is a leadership program designed specifically for freshmen women to prepare for leadership positions during (student organizations) and after college (career).

AWIL members attend leadership development workshops, visit with a mentor/participate in coaching circles, take part in social events, and have the option of becoming a leader in AWIL the following year. AWIL is a great way to meet intelligent/ambitious/wonderful/great groups of women and learn valuable leadership skills.

Service

If you are looking to engage in campus or community service, Texas A&M offers opportunities for students to get involved in traditional service projects through participation in student organizations and also provides continuous opportunities available through agencies in the community. Amplify

Amplify is a collaborative, campus-wide effort to help first-year freshman, transfer and sophomore Aggies gain the skills and become aware of resources to help you overcome challenges you may face throughout your time in Aggieland and to make the most of your Texas A&M experience.

GUIDE

GUIDE seeks to build meaningful mentor relationships between upperclassmen and freshmen. Guides will be a basis of support for you during your time at Texas A&M, and serve as an aide in the development of your Aggie Spirit.

Memorial Student Center Complex

Getting involved in the MSCC Student Programs Office will allow you to do big things that enhance campus life such as producing campus-wide programs which include concerts, lectures, leadership conferences, service projects, film screenings, art exhibits, and cultural and international programs.

You will have the opportunity to develop your professional skills by serving as leaders to these committees and by collaborating to produce programs and manage programming organizations. You will have the added benefit of applying what you learn in the classroom to “real world” situations.

Above all, you will build relationships and friendships that often last a lifetime. The MSCC has 19 Programming Committees and 6 Resource Areas, so there are plenty of opportunities for you to get involved and develop your leadership skills.

Greek Life | Big Ideas. Big Results.

Greek Life at Texas A&M is an integral part of campus life. Get involved early with the more than 3,500 Aggies who are currently members of our 56 organizations. The reward of being Greek can be found in combining Leadership, Community Service, Academic Achievement, and Brotherhood/Sisterhood to create a valuable experience for a first-year Aggie. The most critical element from this combination is Leadership. Energetic, ethical leadership inspires chapter members to live the ideals of their fraternities and sororities daily. Our Aggie Greeks actively participate in all aspects of campus life and hold leadership positions in the Aggie Orientation Leader Program, Off-Campus Aggies, Fish Camp, Student Government, the Corps of Cadets and many other student and community organizations. Greek Life at Texas A&M University provides an opportunity to identify with and participate in A&M’s rich traditions while developing close bonds of brotherhood and sisterhood.

Department of Multicultural Services

The department of Multicultural Services is committed to helping underrepresented student groups transition to Texas A&M by providing leadership opportunities in addition to programming that serves to educate students and challenge and enhance their developmental and global perspective. The department of Multicultural Services offers many services and programs that are specific to first year students.

Department of Recreational Sports

The Department of Recreation Sports, located in the Student Recreation Center, is a great place to get involved and stay in shape! At Rec Sports, there is something for everyone including aquatics, drop-in recreation, group exercise, intramurals, outdoor adventures, specialty classes, sport clubs, rock climbing, and even a golf course. Rec Sports encourages the lifelong pursuit of active, healthy lifestyles, and enhances student development by providing leadership and employment opportunities.
